The legislative changes were supervised by teams of 540 specialists and experts from 50 federal and local authorities within 5 months, and more than 100 private companies were consulted, according to Wam. The most prominent amendments stipulated raising the value of the digital signature to equal recognition of its manual counterpart, creating a fast track for filing patent applications, and expanding trademark protection to include three-dimensional marks, holograms, sound marks, and others. The most prominent laws also included the non-expiration of the criminal case for crimes of embezzlement and damage to public money with the expiry of the time period of the sentence, the tightening of penalties for those who caused harm to people or funds, and the aggravation of the penalty for indecent assault, in addition to other laws related to criminalizing rumors, electronic crimes, and protecting personal data and others.
